DIY POLKA DOT BLOUSE USING MCCALLS #8001

IMG_7421.jpg

A few months back, I picked up this buttery soft polka dot print fabric from JOANN. I had no clue what I was going to make with it, but it was too good to pass up. When I got home I layed the fabric out on my cutting table and brought out a few patterns I was planning to make that month. Mccalls 8001 immediately stood out to me, it was the perfect pairing to show off this gorgeous polka dot print. The pattern has several style lines, one at the lower hemline, another at the sleeve hem and a back yoke. Something I love doing with printed fabric is playing around with style lines and this pattern gave me the opportunity to do just that. Although a striped fabric would show it off better, I do love how the polka dot print did it in a subtle way.

Pattern Alterations:

I cut a size 18 and the only changes I made was to add 5 “ to the sleeve hemline on the back and front bodice pieces. I also added 1” to the sleeve band length.

I think this pattern would look beautiful as a maxi length dress and I can’t wait to make it in silky black 4 ply crepe.

STYLED IT

I just styled it with my favourite self-made palazzo pants and army green wool coat from H&M.

Thank you so much for stopping by. Let me know in the comments below if you have made this pattern or will you be making it soon?
