SUMMER MAXI DRESS: VOGUE #1700
“Life is a party dress like it”
My September project for Mood is finally here and she is FABULOUS. You can find my last two projects HERE and HERE. Before I get into today projects, I just want to mention how much I’ve enjoyed working with Mood these past 3 months. I was afforded the opportunity to show case my creativity with their gorgeous fabric, take advantage of the Mood insider program and host my first sewing giveaway!
I am so happy I applied to Mood’s sewing network when the call went out in June. Honestly, it was a no brainer for me. Being able to take my mind off current events and push myself even further in my craft has been a blessing these last few months.
For this project, I used Mood’s organic oxford cotton in beige. It also comes in 6 other color ways: white, navy, gray, blue, yellow and pink . The fabric is so versatile, I had a hard time choosing what to make. Originally, I wanted to make a shirt dress, however this was a little time consuming and I needed something that would come together easily. After looking through my pattern collection I settled with Vogue 1700. This is a pull over top pattern, which I turned into a summer maxi dress. I did make a few alterations which are listed below.
Alterations made:
· I closed the bodice up at the center by 5” to get a modest fit .
· Slashed and widen the sleeves.
· Added 22 inches to the skirt to make it a maxi length.
I was really excited when this pattern came out in the summer and couldn’t wait to use it, but would I go out of my way to make it again? Unfortunately, no. I have a lot of over styles I would like to try. [you haven’t mentioned why the answer is no] I will be retiring this pattern early, off to the back of my stash it goes.
STYLED IT!
