DIY WRAP DRESS USING MCCALL #8036

OK before we delve into this make, I have some exciting news: I have been chosen to be a part of The Mood Sewing Network (MSN)! Now for this gorgeous make I am wearing. I actually bought this fabric before becoming part of MSN. It is the Mood Fabric exclusive Botanical print, a cotton sateen, which initially I wasn’t much of a fan; I considered it too heavy and not suitable for apparel wear. Just to be sure though, I still proceeded to purchase a sample and was pleasantly surprised to find that its weight was actually perfect. It’s wasn’t too heavy or light and drapes beautifully on the body. If you want to see more of my thoughts on this fabric, I have a mood fabric haul on my YouTube channel here.

For the pattern I used Mccalls M8036. It’s an excellent pattern which I have now added to my tried and tested. So yes, I will be revisiting it again inshaa Allah. I changed the sleeves and increased the length of the dress from a midi to maxi length. For the exaggerated puff sleeves, I used the slash and spread method to get the volume I wanted. I also added 4 inches to the sleeve length.
